27“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
This is a hard verse to accept and understand. It also explains so much. Truly knowing someone is very rare. You may have hundreds of acquaintances. Of those, you may consider 50 of the friends. Of those, you probably call a dozen “good friends”, but you probably only truly “know” five. And if you a blessed enough to have a great marriage, you deeply know one person.
Yet God wants you to know Him more deeply than that. If you are married and have children the child is completely the combination of you and your spouse. You couldn’t separate them out in a million years and with all the technology in the world. Not even death can divide that one new person into the two separate people who came together to form him or her. That is the picture of the relationship God wants with us. Now, perhaps the marriage is the best we can hope for but I’m convinced that the Trinity has the oneness of the child and heaven will be that same oneness for each of us.
But God reserves the right to choose who he will be that close to, just as you choose in your life. Sometimes his decision crushes me, and sometimes it exhilarates me. But the decision is His, I have no right to criticize it. I can ony accept it.
Lord, thank-you for choosing to reveal your love to me when I was in the depth of sin. Why would you ever have chose me? Please Lord, I beg you to choose each and every one of my family. But Father, your wisdom is greater than mine and I here and now for all eternity accept whomever you choose, or not choose. Beginner’s Online Bible Study *obbs*
