13“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.15No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.16In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly kFather.
What is salt used for? It adds flavor and zest to food. It makes the bland exciting. The city on the hill and the lamp on the lamp stand, they both help people find their way. So what is Jesus saying to us? Make a difference. It really is that simple. Salt is not a big thing that gets lots of attention. It is just a simple thing that day in and day out makes our lives better. We take lights for granted don’t we? I think Jesus wants us to be like that. Day after day after day we just let His love flow through us and we make a difference in the world around us. Beginner’s Online Bible Study *obbs*
