Trying To Explain Morality – A Discussion With Bob

Thomas Less, November 5, 2016January 3, 2024

Let’s discuss morality a little bit. Where does it come from?

Morality discussion outline:

  • Commitment
    • Be open minded to the existence or non-existence of God.
    • Be honest, especially with yourself. Be willing to say the Emperor is naked.
    • Be logical, really. Don’t reject a logical conclusion because it is uncomfortable.
    • Follow the truth wherever it leads. Don’t redefine or lie about the truth because you don’t like the conclusion.
  • Morality

3. Treat No One Like A God…Unless It Really Is God

Thomas Less, December 10, 2015January 7, 2017

Stephen_hawking_2008_nasa3Just who do some people treat as if they are God?

  • Scientists – The open-minded seekers and holders of all truth. (heavy sarcasm in every word)
  • Theologians – The open-minded seekers and holders of ultimate truth. (heavy sarcasm in every word)
  • Academians – The open-minded conveyors of all truth. (heavy sarcasm in every word)
  • You and Me! – The open-minded seekers and holders of our own personal relevant truth.  (heavy

It Isn't Love If There Isn't A Choice

Thomas Less, November 22, 2013

Diveded-HeartIf we are trying to understand God, Christianity, and life, this is foundational.  We have to have a choice to love or hate, or it isn’t love at all.

Let’s imagine for a second that we are God and we want companionship.  Well, that turns out to  be a bit too simplistic.  What do we mean by companionship?

A rock, log, or doll could be considered companionship.  I think we …

Delusional Dawkins: Odds Of "Life" Argument Is Basically Flawed

Thomas Less, November 6, 2013

DNAI hate this type of post.  It seems so redundant to display the fault in an argument that displays its own faults to obviously!

On page 51 of “The God Delusion”, Richard Dawkins attempts to make the creation of life (though he is not talking about life at all but merely the creation of something similar to DNA) seem like an obvious outcome of simple probability (chance, odds, whatever you …

The Importance Of Perspective

Thomas Less, October 18, 2013

perspective01dThis post is an email exchange between an atheist friend and myself.  I will add to this as the conversation continues.

Dear Friend,

I have a story below I would like to use to initiate a conversation.  Please don’t look at this as a set up for a trap and try to find a way around it.  You know I’m not out to “win” and I won’t “rub your nose …

The Difference Intelligence Makes

Thomas Less, October 16, 2013

Free Vector 3d dice3905It appears to me very few people appreciate the huge difference intelligence makes and why this difference makes the existence of God so much more reasonable than atheism.  Follow this simple example.

Imagine I take ten “coins” and number them 1 through 10, put them in a basket and draw them out one at a time.  On average, the odds of me drawing them all out in order (first the …

Philosophical Reasoning

Thomas Less, October 9, 2013January 6, 2017

Please read this entirely before you read other philosophical posts.

To discuss the philosophy of Christianity we need a frame work.  The first thing we will do is establish who Christianity claims God is and what Christianity claims his goals for humanity are.  The foundational source of this information about Christianity is the Bible.  Now I know some of you are immediately think “I don’t accept that the Bible …

Why Christianity

Thomas Less, September 24, 2013

jesus7I’ve tried many times to organize and present this and I am never satisfied.  Today I was on Amazon and saw the plethora of books on the subject of God and atheism and realized that I will not write the perfect book on the subject and my obsession with organizing this logically was simply keeping me from ever presenting anything.

So here is what I’m doing:  Below is a few …
