9“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?10Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!11So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly jFather give good gifts to those who ask him.
Father, give me persistence. Sometimes I don’t ask for good things, and sometimes I don’t really seek You, and sometimes I knock on the wrong door. But Father, help me to keep turning to You. You won’t give me what is bad for me, even if I ask. When I ask for things from others or myself, I often can receive bad things. When I seek other gods than You (money, power, glory) things go terribly wrong. When I knock on the wrong doors they quickly open to disaster. But Father, when I keep coming back to You and focus on You and seek You, then my way is peace and contentment. Please Father, give me the persistence to keep coming to You. I have not followed for several postings lately so I don’t know what has been said lately. But this passage has always been interesting to me because The way it say Keep asking, Keep knocking, ect. Why? What I have found in my life is lots of times when we ask for this or that We or I really aren’t ready to receive what we ask for! Oh we thick we are and sometimes even beleive we need it NOW! But when we look back after a year or more of asking and we see we got what we prayed for, Not as we expected but we go the result we really wanted even if it was not how we wanted it. Did we grow? Did the prayer need change? Did what we thought we knew change? Did God’s Gift or answer change? Do we know more? Do we understand more? God uses ALL OF THIS doesn’t He?
