Beginner’s Online Bible Study: Finding a room for Jesus to celebrate Passover
17On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?”
18“As you go into the city,” he told them, “you will see a certain man. Tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.’ ”19So the disciples did as Jesus told them and prepared the Passover meal there.
Other gospel writers give us a little more detail about finding the room where they would celebrate the Passover, but Matthew tells us just enough. It seems whoever it was had the right room at the right time and it was still available for Jesus. He had room for Jesus and his followers. Do I? His house was used by Jesus for a holy purpose. Is mine? The Passover was the most sacred of all the Jewish feasts and it was always celebrated in people’s homes. Jesus had no home unless someone made room for him and allowed him in. It is still like that today.
Lord, make room in my heart for you. Or rather, help me make room for you. Make my home a place for you to do your saving work. Change me Lord. Beginner’s Online Bible Study *obbs*
