The Beatitudes
20Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said,
“God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.
So if God blesses the poor, I guess we should know exactly what poor means. Many times people try to sugar coat this in some way. They read this as poor in spirit which it could mean that, But a simple reading of a text just says poor. So why would that be a blessing and why would he say the kingdom of God is yours?
Perhaps if we don’t have a lot of stuff in our life we have room for the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is a very big thing. I wonder how much of it I crowd out of my Life by putting all kinds of stuff in it. can it really be that simple?
Lord, give me the courage to live simply. It almost sounds rediculous considering all I have. If you need to take it from me for me to live as you want me to live so you can bless me as you want me to be blessed, take it. It’s all really yours anyway.
