1Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, 3because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Lord Jesus, I do long for this body and all its temptations to go away. This whole life here on earth is getting old. I enjoy my wife and family and friends, but I miss home. Thank-you Holy Spirit for living in me though I don’t deserve it. You truly have given me a longing for a home I’ve never been to. I know in my heart that none of this around me is truly home at all and as life goes on longer and longer, I’m ready to just go home. Help me Lord to live here though in a way that makes others want to have a home with me. And if You want me to stay here for a long time or a short time, Your will be done. *2Corinthians5*
