15This is what the Sovereign Lord,
the Holy One of Israel, says:
“Only in returning to me
and resting in me will you be fsaved.
In quietness and confidence is your strength.
But you would have none of it.
When Isaiah received these words from the Lord, Jerusalem was obviously going to be attacked by the Assyrians. The king of Judah decided to send a large caravan to Egypt with valuable gifts to attain a treaty with the Pharaoh. They were depending on a wicked man instead of on God.
Lord, how often have I depended on a wicked man, perhaps even myself, instead of on you? When I work crazy hours or lose sleep to worry, I am going to Pharaoh. Lord, help me to return to you and quietly rest with confidence in you. *Isaiah30*
