4Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. 5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Jesus, it is true that I have no confidence and no hope outside of You. I look at what I have done and I am ashamed. But I look at what You have done through me despite my foolishness and sinfulness, and I am amazed. And I am so amazed at how You, and Your Holy Spirit are life and hope and peace, and my words and logic and rules just are so dead. How often will I try to use logic and fail, only to have You turn someone’s heart and mind for no reason at all. Lord, please remind me that it is You that does the change and my many words are empty without You. And Holy Spirit, give life to me, my words, my work, my day, and all that I do. *2Corinthians3*
